Store Setup

Item categories determine which fields appear when you add inventory. A ring will have different detail fields than a loose diamond or a watch. Categories are fully customizable. Your store admin can add, remove, or adjust categories to match how your store operates. Categories also control which tag templates are used for printing.

Showcases are physical display locations in your store. Assigning inventory to a showcase helps your team know exactly where to find a piece without hunting for it.

Clarity supports industry-standard thermal transfer printers for tag printing. Thermal transfer is recommended for jewelry stores because it handles the high heat from showcase lighting. Make sure the tag template in Clarity matches your label size.

Your store admin can add, remove, or adjust categories from Settings. Each category controls two things: which detail fields appear on the inventory form and which tag template is used for printing. For example, a “Loose Diamond” category would show cut, color, clarity, and carat weight fields, while a “Watch” category might show brand, movement type, and case size. Take time to set up categories that match how your store actually organizes product. This pays off every time you add an item since the form is already tailored to exactly what you need to enter.

Think of showcases as the physical locations where your inventory lives on the sales floor. Create a showcase for each display case, window display, or storage area. When you add or receive inventory, assign each piece to a showcase. This way, when a customer asks about a ring they saw, your team can look it up and know exactly which case to walk to. If you have multiple stores, each store has its own set of showcases.

For receipts, Clarity works with standard thermal receipt printers. Tag printing and receipt printing are separate, so you may need two printers: a thermal transfer printer for jewelry tags and a thermal receipt printer for customer receipts. Check with your Clarity rep for recommended models.
