Reporting
Clarity’s reporting tools help you understand your store’s performance with flexible date filtering and multiple counting methods.
Available Reports
Clarity includes several built-in reports designed for jewelry retail:
- Sales by Date Range — total revenue across a given period, broken down by transaction
- Sales by Salesperson — individual performance, useful for commission tracking and staffing decisions
- Sales by Category — see which product types (rings, loose diamonds, repairs, etc.) are driving revenue
- Inventory Valuation — current stock value based on cost and replacement cost, broken down by category
These reports give you a clear picture of what’s selling, who’s selling it, and what your inventory is worth at any point in time.
Running Reports
Navigate to the Reports section from the sidebar. Select the report type, then set your date range using the start and end date pickers. From there you can apply filters like salesperson or category to narrow the results. Hit Generate and the report loads on screen. Most reports render in a few seconds, even for large date ranges.
Yes. Every sales report supports date range filtering. Pick a start date and end date, and the report only includes transactions that fall within that window. You can also use preset ranges like “This Month,” “Last 30 Days,” or “Year to Date” to save time.
Counting Methods
You can count sales by sale date, payment date, or delivery date. Most jewelers prefer delivery date, since that’s when the transaction is truly complete. This flexibility means your reports match the way you actually think about your business.
The three methods each capture a different moment in the transaction:
- Sale Date counts the transaction on the day it was created. Good for tracking when customers commit, but it doesn’t reflect when money actually came in.
- Payment Date counts based on when payments were received. This is useful if you care about cash flow and want to see when money hit the register, regardless of when the sale was created.
- Delivery Date counts based on when the item was handed to the customer. For repair jobs or custom orders, this can be days or weeks after the sale date. Most jewelers use this because it reflects when the transaction is truly complete.
You can switch between methods on any report, so you’re not locked into one view. If your numbers look different from what you expect, try switching the counting method to see if the transactions fall in a different period.
If a customer makes a deposit in one period and pays the balance in another, the sale total and payment total will fall in different date ranges. This is normal and expected, especially for repair jobs where deposits are collected upfront.
Exporting & Sharing
Yes. Every report has a CSV Export option that downloads the data as a spreadsheet-compatible file. This is useful for sharing with your accountant, importing into QuickBooks, or doing your own analysis in Excel. There’s also a Print option that generates a clean, print-friendly version of the report you can hand to a manager or file for your records.
Commission Tracking
Every sale in Clarity is tied to a salesperson. When you run a Sales by Salesperson report, you get a breakdown of each person’s total sales volume for the selected period. If your store uses commission-based pay, this report gives you the numbers you need to calculate payouts. You can filter by date range and category to get as specific as you need. Pair this with the counting method that matches your commission policy (sale date for when the deal was made, delivery date for when it was fulfilled) and you have a clear, auditable record.
